Hymn to the Eternal City
2024 was a significant year for the Vladimir region. It was the year of the 1000th anniversary of the city of Suzdal and the 300th anniversary of the transfer of the relics of Prince Alexander Nevsky from the Vladimir-Suzdal region to St. Petersburg.
The music festival "Modern Composers - for the 1000th Anniversary of Suzdal", dedicated to these dates, was held from September 7 to 11, 2024 in the Vladimir region.
The geography of the festival covered Krasnoyarsk, Orenburg, Kaliningrad, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Vladimir. Authors from different parts of the country spent several months creating the musical canvas of the concert, immersing themselves in the life stories of the ascetics of Suzdal, including Princes Alexander Nevsky and Andrei Bogolyubsky, and the blessed, and the saints who made an invaluable contribution to the formation of Russia, and holy women who demonstrated the feat of prayer and love for God, for their Fatherland and for people.
Among the modern composers of the project are not only famous young authors, but also masters of the art of composition.
The concert of sacred music "Hymn to the Eternal City" became the first composer's premiere within the framework of the festival. In it, the chamber choir "Raspev" under the direction of Honored Artist of Russia, Professor Natalia Kolesnikova performed for the first time compositions created by leading young composers of our country, laureates and winners of the All-Russian competitions "Score" and "ArtMasters". Twelve choral stories dedicated to Suzdal saints and Suzdal were created by the authors especially for the festival.
