Requiem is the greatest creation of the brilliant Italian composer Giuseppe Verdi and it belonged to Elena Obraztsova's most beloved works. “It was the dream of my life to sing the Requiem,” she said. Her dream came true in Milan, in the year of the 200th anniversary of La Scala, which in Italy was called the "Verdi season". Its pinnacle was the performance of the Requiem on January 6, 1978 with the participation of the choir and orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala in the church of St. Mark, where the Requiem was first performed under the baton of Verdi himself.

In honor of the 145th anniversary of the creation of Verdi's Requiem, a solemn performance of this work took place in the Great Hall of Moscow Conservatory.
