Cinderella
Gioachino Rossini's operatic dramma giocoso "Cinderella" (or Goodness Triumphant) was staged as part of the youth educational and creative project "Opera Class", organized by the Elena Obraztsova Foundation.
The musical director of the project and conductor of "Cinderella" is the world-famous opera singer, principal guest conductor of the Novosibirsk Opera and Ballet Theatre, guest conductor of the Mikhailovsky Theatre Dmitry Korchak. The artistic director of the project is Ernesto Palacio, director of the Accademia Rossiniana in Pesaro.
Among the teachers of the project are the famous Italian singers Daniela Barcellona and Carlo Lepore, head of the Youth Opera Program of the Bolshoi Theatre Dmitry Vdovin and others.
Turning the famous fairy tale into a comic opera, Rossini added new details and unexpected events to the plot. The stepmother was replaced by the stepfather, Baron Manifico, and the fairy godmother was replaced by the wizard Alidoro. Prince Ramiro, dressed as a servant, meets Cinderella before the ball. The role of the prince is played by his valet Dandini, who dresses up as a crowned head in order to appreciate the sincerity of Don Magnifico's daughters Clorinda and Thisbe. At the ball, Cinderella does not lose her slipper, but gives the prince a bracelet, according to which he must find her. The opera is full of dressing up, comical situations and, of course, magic.
