St. Petersburg Cello School. Lecture

From March 26 to 29, 2026, the Moscow Musical Theatre "Helikon-Opera" will host the IV All-Russian Cello Academy—an educational event for professional cello performers, students, and graduates of music schools.

The academy will feature open masterclasses by renowned cellists, presentations by professionals on topics relevant to musicians, and a final concert featuring all the teachers and students who participated in the academy's masterclasses.

On March 28, a lecture entitled "The St. Petersburg Cello School" was held, featuring Lev Ginzburg's "History of Cello Art" in four volumes. The lecture was presented by Tatyana Lukashina, cellist and associate professor at the Tchaikovsky Moscow Conservatory and the St. Petersburg State Musical Institute. Ippolitova-Ivanova (cello performance methodology, performance history, cello, chamber ensemble) and Alexey Vasiliev, cellist, Honored Artist of the Russian Federation, Rector of the N. A. Rimsky-Korsakov St. Petersburg State Conservatory, Professor, and Artistic Director of the St. Petersburg Conservatory Symphony Orchestra.
