XIV International Mikael Tariverdiev Organ Competition. Gala Concert

The International Organ Competition, named after Mikael Leonovich Tariverdiev, an outstanding contemporary composer, and organized by his wife Vera Tariverdiyeva 26 years ago, has become a significant event in the world of music.

The geography of the XIV competition covered three continents. The semi-finals and finals were traditionally held in Kaliningrad. And the first round of this year in four stages was held in New Haven (Connecticut/USA), Hamburg (Germany), Moscow and Seoul (Republic of Korea).

The jury included musicians from Switzerland, Germany, Italy, Hungary, France, the USA, Japan, Korea and Russia, the chairman of the jury was the director of the Yale Institute of Church Music Martin Jean.

On September 8, the Orpheus media platform showed a live broadcast from Kaliningrad, the Cathedral on Kant Island, where the award ceremony and gala concert of the laureates of the XIV International Mikael Tariverdiev Organ Competition took place.

Special prizes from Russian philharmonic societies, laureate prizes, and awards from partners were presented on the Cathedral stage, and the winner of the competition received the coveted amber angel statuette and the title of winner of the prestigious music competition.

At the end of the evening, the newly minted laureates performed works by M. Tariverdiev, C. M. Widor, F. Liszt, and J. S. Bach on the largest organ in Russia.
