The 20s of the last century: NEP (New Economic Policy), the horrors of the Civil War are gradually passing away, the economy is being restored, people desperately crave for joy and entertainment. Valentin Parnakh, who has returned from Paris, performs music that shocked him in the French capital, it is called jazz. Soon, foreign guest performers arrive in the capital's concert halls one after another. Among them are saxophonist Sidney Bechet and his jazz orchestra. The halls were packed, the audience applauded furiously. The young Soviet country was flooded with fans and followers of this music. One of them was a young musician Alexander Tsfasman, the creator of the song "Unsuccessful Date" that we loved so much.
