Description

The Five Evenings chamber festival is being held in Moscow for the seventh time. This year, the festival will feature new works by contemporary Russian composers from across the country.

The "Elements" concert is a meeting of diverse musical worlds and instruments, united by the spirit of folk traditions and contemporary sounds. Balalaika, domra, kantele, mandolin, and string quartet—each instrument reveals its own element in new and unexpected ways. The concert will feature works by Grigory Zaitsev, Daria Maraeva, Olesya Evstratova, Anastasia Salo, Sergey Popov, Elmir Nizamov, and Andrey Byzov.

Anastasia Salo (Petrozavodsk). Song of the Wind (2019) for flute and kantele;

Sergey Popov (Nizhny Novgorod). Russian Presto (2023) for prima balalaika and piano;

Andrey Byzov (Ekaterinburg). Chamber Suite (2014) for mandolin and cello;

Elmir Nizamov (Kazan). Lament of the Earth and Dance of Fire from the cycle "Elements" (2023) for mandolin and string quartet.
