B. Tchaikovsky. A Musical Fairytale

Description

The Orpheus media platform presents Boris Tchaikovsky's "Musical Fairy Tale" concert extravaganza, based on the fairy tales of Hans Christian Andersen. The concert is timed to coincide with the composer's 100th birthday.

For most connoisseurs and experts of the music of Boris Tchaikovsky, the greatest symphonist of the 20th century, his artistic legacy is primarily associated with his large-scale orchestral and chamber ensemble works. However, in addition to works grand in scale and concept, the composer also wrote delightful music for numerous radio fairy tales, most of which were created in collaboration with the outstanding poet and friend of the composer, David Samoilov.

The most perfect example of this collaboration is Andersen's Fairy Tales. "The Swineherd," "Galoshes of Happiness," and "The Emperor's New Clothes" were performed on Russian radio for many years, captivating children's audiences not only with their artistic portrayals of beloved characters but also with their unique musical and poetic reflections of life. Thanks to Boris Tchaikovsky, waltzes, hymns, marches, and tongue-twisters were received with surprising warmth, with gentle mischief and a kind smile.

Listening to these tales again today is a great pleasure. At the concert, they were performed by the beloved theater and film actor Vladimir Konkin, Honored Artist of Russia, accompanied by the Camerata Komitas chamber orchestra under the direction of Arif Dadashev. Tatyana Petrovskaya's sand animation provided a wonderful backdrop to the concert.
