III Petrovsky Opera Ball

Description

The Orpheus media platform presents a live broadcast of the III Petrovsky Opera Ball, a large-scale cultural event that will take place on September 20, 2025 in the Grand Hall of the St. Petersburg Academic Philharmonic named after D. D. Shostakovich. The ball continues the historical traditions of St. Petersburg, the Petrovsky assemblies, where secular culture was born. "A wonderful spectacle that cannot be forgotten," - this is how Count S. D. Sheremetev once expressed his admiration after visiting one of these balls.

The concert program will feature stars of the world and Russian stage. The audience will see a performance by the Italian tenor Vittorio Grigolo, a Grammy Award winner, soloist of La Scala, the Metropolitan Opera and the Royal Opera House, Covent Garden. He will perform "Una furtiva logrima", an aria from Gaetano Donizetti's opera "The Elixir of Love", and the song "Granada" by Agustin Lara. Russian soprano Christina Klein, a graduate of the V.S. Popov Academy of Choral Art, will perform arias by Italian and Russian composers. Cellist Sergei Roldugin, People's Artist of Russia, will perform "Sentimental Waltz" by P.I. Tchaikovsky and the waltz for cello and orchestra by Johann Strauss. Maestro Fabio Mastrangelo, artistic director of the St. Petersburg F.I. Chaliapin Theater and the Northern Symphony Orchestra, will conduct the symphony. The Festino choir will also take part in the program, and the Bravo group will perform in the dance part of the evening. Ballet miniatures will be presented by the Bolshoi Theatre of Russia artist Maria Shuvalova and her partner Igor Pugachev. Their duet will be the highlight of the evening, combining classics and modernity.

The 3rd Petrovsky Ball is also dedicated to the music of two great composers – Pyotr Tchaikovsky and Johann Strauss. This year, the world community celebrates two major anniversaries at once – the 185th anniversary of the birth of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and the 200th anniversary of the birth of Johann Strauss Jr. The concert will feature solemn and lyrical works by two great composers.

A special event of the evening will be the debut of young dancers, for whom participation in the Petrovsky Ball will be the first page in their social and cultural biography. Their entrances and dances will become a symbol of the reviving tradition of Petrovsky assemblies.

The Petrovsky Ball is also the largest charity event. In 2025, all funds raised will be donated to a charity program to support the cultural development of new regions of Russia and humanitarian aid to victims. The wards of the Podari Zhizn foundation will be invited to the ball. Part of the proceeds from the event will be transferred to the foundation.

The project is being implemented by the Most Iskusstv Foundation with the support of the Presidential Foundation for Cultural Initiatives as part of the international festival Tchaikovsky. Reboot-2025.

The hosts of the ball are Hans-Joachim Frey, Chairman of the Board of the Most Iskusstv Foundation and director of the Petrovsky Ball, and Oksana Fedorova, TV presenter, actress, and Miss Universe title holder.
