Schubert, Brahms

On October 12, 2023, the fifth concert of the "Pure Classics" cycle took place at the Russian National Museum of Music. The concert featured works by Franz Schubert and Johannes Brahms.

The cycle of concerts and lectures of the project "Pure Classics" is implemented by the FIRCON Foundation using a grant provided by the Russian Foundation for Culture in the framework of the Federal project "Creative People" of the national project "Culture".

Vienna in the 18th and 19th centuries became rightfully considered the capital of music. This city was glorified by the greatest creators of music, such as Mozart, Haydn, Beethoven, Schubert, Brahms and many other great musicians. Schubert and Brahms represent the beginning and maturity of the era of Romanticism. Both composers relied on the work of German poets, artists, and an amazing combination of cultures of various peoples inhabiting the Austrian Empire at that time. Vienna was a huge melting pot in which the cultures of Slavs, Hungarians, Germans, Italians, Turks mixed and complemented each other. The elegant classical forms of Schubert's works are filled with loneliness, hope and willingness to serve music, and Brahms' detailed statements are Hungarian–Gypsy rastravoy, landscapes of the Viennese hills, motifs of the Italian barcarole and Hungarian dance rhythms.
