Piano duet Ludmila Berlinskaya and Arthur Ansel
Ludmila Berlinskaya and Arthur Ansel are inseparable pioneering pianists. Risky discoveries in the field of music, bright pages of piano literature and the desire to share their inspiration with the audience are the distinctive features of the duo.
Ludmila Berlinskaya and Arthur Ansel are masters, belonging to a dynasty of famous musicians. Their duet is built on complete mutual understanding of each other. Original concert programs, imbued with stage energy, their ability to share with the public both well-known and unexpected musical works, were born from the desire to raise the piano duet to the level of other long-famous forms of chamber music.
The Berlinskaya-Ansel duet has an extensive repertoire, including both "hits" written for two pianos and for performance in four hands, and rare works. These are both original compositions and transcriptions, including the striking editions of Arthur Ansel: "Francesca da Rimini" (published by Jurgenson), "Romeo and Juliet" (published by Chant du Monde), "After Reading Dante" and others.
Every season, the pianist duo performs in the most prestigious halls around the world: the Paris Philharmonic, the Auditorium de Radio France, the Salle Gaveau, the Moscow and St. Petersburg Philharmonics, the Mariinsky Theatre Concert Hall, and the Moscow Zaryadye Concert Hall. They are also guests of such famous festivals as "Musical Heights" (Gstaad), "December Evenings of Svyatoslav Richter" (Moscow), Tokyo Spring Festival, Rota das Artes (Lisbon), Klavier Raritäten (Gusum), Lille Piano Festival, "Lisztomania", "Soloists in Bagatelle" or les Pianofolies (Touquet).
The duo also collaborates with leading orchestras: the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Freiburg Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ulsan Philharmonic Orchestra, the Ural Philharmonic Orchestra, the Orchestre National d'Ile-de-France, the Picardie Orchestra. The pianists take to the stage with conductors of different generations, including Nikolai Alexeyev, Ari Van Beek, Vladimir Ponkin, Dmitry Liss, Vahan Martirosyan, Yader Binyamini, Georg Kohler, Yuri Medyanik, Lucie Legay, Rebecca Tong.
The result of the duo's fruitful work is 10 jointly recorded albums, which have received several awards, such as "Publisher's Choice" (Gramophone), "Shock" (Classica), "Album of the Year" (Le Monde newspaper and Libération newspaper), "Pianist Maestro". The duo's concerts have been recorded and presented by such radio programs as France Musique, Radio Classique (France), Deutschlandfunk Kultur (Germany), Radio Orpheus (Russia), NPO radio 4 (Netherlands), RTS (Switzerland).
Arthur Ansel and Ludmila Berlinskaya teach a performance class for two pianos at the Ecole Normale de Musique (Paris). The pianists are also artistic directors of two music festivals: "The Key to the Doors" (running since 2012 in the Loire region) and the Rungis Piano-Piano Festival, which is dedicated to the art of music for two pianos and four-handed playing.
