Hibla Gerzmava invites...
We present to your attention a concert within the framework of the XXII Music Festival "Khibla Gerzmava invites..." The concert took place at the foot of the ancient Bedia Cathedral, an architectural monument of the 10th century. The ancient temple, built on a mountain plateau by King Bagrat III, is one of the most picturesque places in Abkhazia, with a magnificent view of the Black Sea coast and the peaks of the Main Caucasian Range. For the first time in its centuries-old history, the cathedral complex was turned into a concert venue. Khibla Gerzmava sang with the Academic Grand Choir "Masters of Choral Singing" under the direction of People's Artist of the Russian Federation Lev Kontorovich. The group, founded in 1928 as the Vocal Ensemble of the All-Union Radio Committee, will celebrate its centenary in the near future. It received the title "Masters of Choral Singing" for its highest performing skills. The concert is dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the birth of Dmitry Gulia, an outstanding Abkhaz scholar, educator, teacher and poet, creator of the Abkhaz alphabet and founder of national literature. The program includes works by Mozart, Bach, Bellini, Schubert, Chopin in choral arrangements, as well as arrangements of Russian and Abkhaz folk songs.
