Rachmaninov. Prokofiev.

The main event of another day of the III St. Petersburg Music Festival named after S.K. Gorkovenko were two world premieres. The music by Sergei Prokofiev for the film by Abram Room "Tonya" (1942) and for the historical film by Alexander Faintsimmer "Kotovsky" (1942) was performed for the first time.

This event is the result of the work of conductor and composer Anton Lubchenko. It is not the first time that he has presented forgotten scores by Sergei Prokofiev to a modern listener at the festival. "There is not much music there, but it is also beautiful. The main theme from "Tony", by the way, will later become the love theme in "The Story of a Real Man", - says the conductor.

The program also included Symphony No. 1 by Sergei Rachmaninoff. The unsuccessful first performance of the symphony provoked a deep depression in the young composer and even fell under the author's own ban on performing it.
