Beethoven's Piano Concertos. Piano Concerto No. 2

Description

As part of the annual KLAVER classical music festival, Daniel Barenboim and the Berlin Staatskapelle presented the piano concertos of Ludwig van Beethoven.

Daniel Barenboim is rightfully one of the greatest contemporary experts on Beethoven's music. He has performed his works in concert countless times, recorded all 32 piano sonatas twice, and recorded the five piano concertos several times.

For his 65th birthday in 2007, Daniel Barenboim performed a cycle of Beethoven's piano concertos together with the Berlin Staatskapelle. This performance is an individual and special reading of Beethoven's music with an exceptionally warm orchestral sound.

The composer wrote the Piano Concerto No. 2 between 1787 and 1789. Although the work is called the Second Concerto, it was the first composition in the genre of a piano concerto. And the first performance of the concerto took place on March 29, 1795 in Vienna. The soloist was Beethoven himself. This was the composer's first public appearance.
