The Mariinsky Theatre Stradivarius Ensemble, Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici and Ballet Stars

Description

The Mariinsky Theatre Stradivarius Ensemble is a group of musicians who play string instruments created by the great Italian masters of the 17th and 18th centuries: Nicolo Amati, Antonio Stradivari, Giuseppe Guarneri, Giovanni Battista Guadagnini and Matteo Goffriller. Each of the instruments played by the musicians of the ensemble has its own history, full of amazing events. Lorenz Nasturica-Gerschcowici plays the Antonio Stradivarius ex-Heifetz violin (1732), which was once played by the young Jascha Heifetz. The repertoire of the Stradivarius Ensemble includes works from the Baroque era to compositions of the 20th century. The music of the "king of tango" Astor Piazzolla, arranged by Leonid Desyatnikov and Alexei Krasheninnikov, formed the basis of a modern choreographic program, which will be presented with the Stradivarius Ensemble by the prima of the Bolshoi Theater Ekaterina Shipulina and the principal dancer of the Boris Eifman Ballet Theater Oleg Gabyshev. The string elegy "Chrysanthemums" by Giacomo Puccini will sound like an elegant intermezzo in the program - a rare instrumental opus in the legacy of the composer, who became famous for his great operas. Oleg Gabyshev will perform in this program in both his roles - as a dancer and choreographer.
