Denis Matsuev and the Virtuosos: Musical Masterpieces for Soloist and Orchestra

Description

The Denis Matsuev Summer Festival in Suzdal will continue with a concert featuring the Vladimir Governor's Symphony Orchestra. The outstanding Russian pianist has been collaborating with this orchestra for many years, which has won wide recognition from professionals and music lovers over a quarter of a century. Vasilisa Markina, a talented young conductor and daughter of the orchestra's founder Artem Markin, will be at the conductor's stand.

The main program of the evening will consist of famous works in the genre of instrumental concertos.

The Concerto for Piano, Violin, Cello and Orchestra was written by Ludwig van Beethoven by order of the Austrian Archduke Rudolf, the Emperor's half-brother and the composer's student. This opus has earned widespread fame not only for its virtuosity and the brightness of its thematic material, but also for its cheerfulness and optimism. The scale of ideas and images, the most active interaction of soloists and orchestra, the power of sound - all this brings the Triple Concerto closer to a symphony. And the absence of traditional cadenzas in it is balanced by episodes of skillful playing of the trio of soloists.

Together with the artistic director of the Summer Festival Denis Matsuev, the solo parts in the Triple Concerto will be dazzled by the Honored Artist of Armenia, winner of the XIV International Tchaikovsky Competition Narek Hakhnazaryan and violinist Elena Tarosyan - bronze prize winner of the XVII International Tchaikovsky Competition, concertmaster of the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra.

The program will continue with the first part (Allegro) of the Concerto for Piano and Orchestra by George Gershwin, built on the rhythms and intonations of the Charleston. The solo part will be performed by 14-year-old pianist, scholarship holder of the New Names Foundation Elisey Mysin - winner of the Vladimir Krainev Moscow International Piano Competition, the Mozart International Competition in Zhuhai (China), the Schumann International Competition in Dusseldorf (Germany), the Chopin International Competition in Nashville (USA), the competition in Cleveland (USA), and laureate of the IV International Competition for Young Pianists Grand Piano Competition.

Igor Fedorov, one of the few concert clarinet soloists in the world, an artist with a unique repertoire that includes works from various genres - from romanticism to jazz, has been invited to perform the solo in Claude Debussy's Rhapsody No. 1 for Clarinet and Orchestra. Debussy's Rhapsody is a virtuoso composition created in 1910 for a clarinet competition, in which, despite all the signs of musical impressionism, the spirit of Mozart hovers. Igor Fedorov will also delight listeners with an original humorous fantasy by the German composer Adolf Schreiner Immer kleiner ("Less and less"), the title of which refers to the solo instrument itself.

The concert will also feature soprano Valentina Fedeneva, a soloist of the Mikhailovsky Theater, a laureate of international competitions and the national opera award "Onegin" in the "debut" category. She will perform arias from operas by Dvorak and Puccini, accompanied by the Vladimir Governor's Symphony Orchestra.
