The fifth evening of the Denis Matsuev Summer Festival will give music lovers a meeting with the brightest stars of the world music scene. People's Artist of Russia, UNESCO World Heritage Site, Spaso-Evfimiev Monastery will host performances by People's Artist of Russia, UNESCO Artist for Peace, maestro Valery Gergiev, world-famous bass, Honored Artist of Russia Ildar Abdrazakov and one of the most popular pianists of our time, People's Artist of Russia Denis Matsuev.
Valery Gergiev is an outstanding Russian conductor, the brightest representative of the St. Petersburg conducting school, artistic director and director of the Mariinsky Theater, general director of the Bolshoi Theater. This evening, he will take the helm of the Russian National Youth Orchestra of Russia. The maestro has been collaborating with this orchestra for many years and played a key role in its destiny. No less significant is the collaboration with young orchestra members and Denis Matsuev, who became the stage partner of the RNMSO from the very first programs of the ensemble.
The brainchild and pride of the Moscow Philharmonic, the RNMSO is the youngest and most successful orchestra in the country, already today embodying the future of Russian academic music. The orchestra under the direction of maestro Valery Gergiev will perform bright symphonic hits - "Polovtsian Dances" from the opera "Prince Igor" by Borodin, "Festive Overture" by Shostakovich and Apotheosis from the ballet "Swan Lake" by Tchaikovsky.
The RNMSO will also be accompanied by the famous bass, soloist of the Mariinsky Theater Ildar Abdrazakov, who will perform popular arias from the operas of Rachmaninoff and Bizet, as well as arrangements of Russian folk songs. The world-famous opera singer, director, and public figure, Ildar Abdrazakov, is the winner of the Golden Mask, Grammy, Casta Diva, and BraVo awards, and a laureate of the Russian State Prize in Literature and Art. The singer performs in the world's largest theaters and at the most prestigious festivals. He heads the Elena Obraztsova International Academy of Music in St. Petersburg and his own charitable foundation, and since 2024 has headed the Sevastopol Opera and Ballet Theater.
At the end of the program, the brilliant pianist Denis Matsuev will perform the famous First Piano Concerto by Pyotr Tchaikovsky with the Russian National Youth Symphony Orchestra - a masterpiece that has become an emblem of Russian music throughout the world and a symbol of the International Competition named after the composer.
