Rising Stars - "New Names" and Winners of this Year's International Rachmaninov Competition
The fourth musical evening within the Summer Festival, which has become a large-scale continuation of the legendary Summer School of the New Names Foundation, is entirely dedicated to young talents - scholarship holders of the foundation. Rising stars of the performing arts, who received a personal invitation to the festival from artistic director Denis Matsuev, will present masterpieces of world classics with the Vladimir Governor's Symphony Orchestra.
The latest and most rarely heard of Rachmaninoff's piano concertos, the Fourth, will be performed with the VGSO by Lev Bakirov, a 14-year-old alumnus of the Central Music School, a student of the venerable teacher Valery Pyasetsky. The winner of the youth competition named after S. V. Rachmaninoff, the international Grand Piano Competition and the All-Russian competition "Blue Bird", was awarded the international professional music award BraVo in the nomination "Discovery of the Year" (2024).
The famous First Concerto for Violin and Orchestra by Max Bruch, created with the participation of the great virtuoso Joseph Joachim, is one of the most difficult works in the entire violin repertoire. It will be performed by the VGSO and ten-year-old virtuoso Luka Moromov, winner of the All-Russian television competition for young talents "Blue Bird" (the highest award was awarded to the young musician by a unanimous decision of the jury) and the television competition "The Nutcracker".
The soloist in the piano Concerto No. 5 in F minor by Johann Sebastian Bach with alternating parts of a dramatic and lyrical nature will be the youngest participant of the festival - seven-year-old pupil of the Central Music School, a student of Valery Pyasetsky Polina Eremina.
Popular pieces from the clarinetists' repertoire - Intermezzo for clarinet and orchestra by Alexander Tsfasman (one of the giants of Russian jazz), dedicated to Benny Goodman, and Russian Dance from the ballet The Nutcracker by Pyotr Tchaikovsky - will be presented by 13-year-old student of the Gnessin School Elizaveta Gamaris, winner of the Nutcracker TV competition, international competitions in Paris (Nouvelles Etoiles), Madrid (Golden Talents), Latvia (Wind Stars and Crystal Cup), Moscow (Gnessin Competition) and many others.
Pyotr Tchaikovsky's Lyrical Nocturne, included in the program of almost all concert cellists, will be performed by Tikhon Yevlanov, who by the age of 17 had won about 20 music competitions. These include international competitions and festivals named after S. I. Savshinsky, G. V. Sviridov, "Calling - Musician", "Magic Bow" and others, as well as the Grand Prix of the Moscow Mayor's Grants. Tikhon Yevlanov will complete the concert program by performing virtuoso variations on one string by Niccolò Paganini on a theme from Rossini's opera "Moses in Egypt".
