The 3rd Interregional Open Competition for Performers on String Instruments named after V. Ya. Shpet will be held in Omsk from February 7 to 15, 2026, as part of the "Omsk – Cultural Capital of Russia – 2026" program.

In anticipation of this event, the Orpheus Media Platform presents interviews with the Competition jury members and past laureates.

In the studio is Mikhail Golikov, a member of the Competition jury, People's Artist of the Kabardino-Balkarian Republic, Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the St. Petersburg State Philharmonic for Children and Youth, and Principal Conductor of the Tavrichesky International Symphony Orchestra.

Vilhelm Yakovlevich Shpet is a Siberian educator who has trained several generations of professional musicians working throughout Russia and abroad.

The competition is organized to enhance the performance skills of students in continuing pre-vocational and vocational education institutions and to identify and support talented and gifted young musicians. The competition is open to performers on stringed instruments, violin, viola, and cello, aged 7 to 23. Applications are accepted on the official competition website: https://shpet-konkurs.ru/
