As a guest of the "Musical Lecture Hall", Soviet and Russian composer, People's Artist of the Russian Federation Eduard Artemyev talks about the limitless possibilities of composers today.
Artemyev's figure occupies a special position in the musical landscape of the country. The composer is known as one of the founders of electronic music in the USSR, the author of several operas, oratorios, cantatas and instrumental works. A huge layer in Artemyev's creative path is devoted to work in cinema. He wrote music for cult films of Soviet cinema, including Solaris, Mirror and Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky, Slave of Love by Nikita Mikhalkov, Courier by Karen Shakhnazarov and many others. What is the composer's task when he composes for a film, and how far does the director's will extend - these are the controversial issues raised by Artemyev at a meeting with young musicians.
