Verbier 2023. R. Schumann’s Symphony No. 3, "Rhenish"

The Verbier Festival is a landmark event in the world of classical music, held annually during the summer. Its primary mission is to foster the exchange of experience between great masters and young artists from across the globe. In 2023, the festival celebrated its 30th anniversary, featuring a unique program for the occasion.

Another highlight of that year was the performance of Robert Schumann’s Symphony No. 3, the "Rhenish," by the Verbier Festival Chamber Orchestra under the direction of maestro Gábor Takács-Nagy.

Schumann composed the symphony in 1850, shortly after moving from Leipzig to Düsseldorf, where he had accepted the position of municipal music director. The music reflects his impressions of the majestic Rhine landscape, local folk festivities, and Cologne Cathedral.
