Verbier 2024. G. Mahler. Symphony No. 3
The Verbier Festival is a major classical music event held annually in the summer. Its primary mission is to foster the exchange of experience between great masters and young artists from across the globe.
In 2024, the festival opened with a performance of Gustav Mahler’s Symphony No. 3, featuring the Verbier Festival Symphony Orchestra under the direction of Simon Rattle, the magnificent mezzo-soprano Magdalena Kožená, and two choirs. They performed the celebrated vocal passages in the fourth and fifth movements—texts drawn from Friedrich Nietzsche’s *Thus Spoke Zarathustra* and folk poems from the collection *Des Knaben Wunderhorn* (The Youth’s Magic Horn).
